Creating Pathways
Development ProgrammeYoung Identity’s year-long Creating Pathways programme supports underrepresented young people aged 13–25 to progress into the creative and cultural sector.
This programme expands learning for young creatives, offering opportunities in youth governance, event production, publishing and workshop facilitation. Through the pathways of our Young Producers, Young Publishers, Young Performers and Young Leaders, you will gain valuable experience in the creative industries.
You will build relationships with artists, partners and industry professionals to access mentorship opportunities, training and specialist classes. You will access progression opportunities that build confidence and support pathways into cultural leadership, creative practice and wider sector roles.

Young Leaders
Receiving guidance and direction, you will help shape the strategic priorities and environmental initiatives of the organisation, ensuring that young people have a voice in how the organisation develops.
You will work alongside Trustees and staff to offer insights, feedback and ideas that help us remain responsive to the needs and interests of our participants and communities. Your contribution will help ensure that our programmes, projects and creative opportunities are relevant, meaningful and engaging for the young people we serve.
Young Performers
You’ll work alongside a directing team to write and devise your ideas, learning about character, storytelling and movement as a part of a creative ensemble. Successful participants will then take part in rehearsals and development sessions, culminating in a live performance.
Auditions will open during the year, with further information about dates, the audition process and rehearsal schedule shared when applications open
Young Producers
You’ll be a core part of our live events programme, with the opportunity to programme and deliver your own event. You’ll be supported throughout the process, with opportunities to receive feedback while being trusted to make creative decisions that shape the event.
You’ll have opportunities to shadow existing events and gain hands-on experience in programming. Examples include theatre projects, One Mic Stand poetry slam, book launches, community events and outreach activities.
Young Publishers
As part of the team behind No Disclaimers Press, you’ll play an active role in developing and delivering our next anthology.
From reviewing submissions, collaborating with poets and illustrators, proofreading, fact-checking, contributing feedback on the design and formatting, to supporting promotion and distribution, you’ll gain practical experience of bringing a publication from idea to print.
